It's pretty incredible how many beautiful moments can be captured in just 20 short minutes! I met the Ochocki family for a short session in mid-November, and while we may not have lucked out with the temperature (it was in the 60's the weekend prior to their shoot, and then happened to snow the night before), we certainly got the best light a photographer could ask for! I'm so glad the kiddos were such troopers for the chilly shoot, because we captured some incredible memories! See for yourself.
I must say, the Lewandowskis are one of the sweetest families I've ever photographed. We spent one of the last warm days of autumn at the park, playing in leaves & cattails, chasing the pup, and sharing lots of laughs. It was so much fun!
Okay, do these two not look like they just jumped straight out of a magazine and into my blog?! Seriously—gorgeous! I could not have been more excited to spend a perfect autumn evening exploring Mill City Ruins in Minneapolis with this incredible couple. We shared lots of laughs and captured some lovely moments.
Ashley & Dan, I had a blast taking your engagement photos, and I'm counting down the days 'til your wedding. Colorado, here we come! Love you two!
It was SO fun photographing this awesome family! I've gotten so lucky with the most perfect weather for all my family sessions this year (knock on wood) and this day was no exception. The Arvig family introduced me to Dodge Nature Center, and I have to admit, I think I'm hooked now! This location has so much variety—grassy fields, dirt paths, rustic buildings, an awesome boardwalk...the list goes on. It was such a joy to spend this gorgeous fall day with an equally (if not more) gorgeous family! Thanks for letting me capture some memories for you, Conni, Aaron, Bentley and Brooks!
I had so much fun with these energetic boys and their parents. We headed out to Hidden Falls in St. Paul for their session, and the kiddos absolutely LOVED throwing rocks in the water. I'm quite certain they could have spent the entire evening on the shore if it were up to them. Ah, the simple things...
I've made a promise to myself to be better at posting all my sessions on my blog, but it's a promise that's proving to be tough to fulfill—with spending time with family, chasing my mischevious 9-month-old son, and keeping up with my silly & sassy daughter—my "me-time" has surmounted to a few hours each week when the kids are finally in bed and I'm not too tired for something other than Netflix & a glass of wine. BUT! My hubby took the kids out for the afternoon, so I have a couple hours to myself. And I want to blog, darnit!
It's so humbling to get to capture memories for a growing family year after year. The Hogans are no exception. Since our last session, Davey gained a new brother! Luke (aka "Goober") was born just a day apart from my little guy, and it was incredible to see so many similarities! He was such a smiley, chill baby. We had a fun session at the Pioneer House at Marsh Creek Park in Woodbury (I love that place!), where I got to chase the boys with my camera and witness the love and patience Ally and Dan have for their little boys. What a pleasure it was! Hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from their session.
Oh how I adore this soon-to-be-family-of-FIVE! Now that the news is out, I can finally share this lovely sun-soaked, laugh-filled session with you all. Dani & Charlie are expecting the newest addition to their family in March and wanted some photos to announce the news to friends. We had such a fun time capturing giggles of little Mya and Arlo as the sun set. Without further ado, enjoy soaking up all the laughs, tickle fights and baby bump images from their session:
The love parents have for a new child never ceases to amaze me. Brooks' family was no exception. So grateful to have captured these precious moments at just under one month old.
I could not have been more excited to capture Brittany and Ryan's engagement photos. They're planning a 1920's-inspired wedding, and decided it's only natural their engagement photos matched. So, we headed to the Union Depot in Saint Paul for an evening of channeling our inner flapper.
Wellan is the sweet little daughter of my fellow Stout Design Alumni, Leah and Calvin. These two are both so incredibly talented—Calvin does awesome video work and Leah is an amazing designer, illustrator, AND new small business owner! She recently opened Yes Please, a shop in Menomonie that sells unique handmade gifts. I can't wait to check it out in person!
Aside from being talented artists, Leah and Calvin are amazing parents, too. Their parenting style allows Wellan to explore and discover and learn things outside of the ordinary. It has been so fun to see the unique ways they infuse their creativity into Wellan's life—I especially admire their video blogs. (Seriously...coolest parents ever!) Wellan already has a big personality, and I'm excited to see how her parents' traits and talents rub off on her as she grows.
Needless to say, I was inspired to do something a little different for this shoot. I thought it'd be fun to capture mini stop-motion "video" clips throughout the session. I've sprinkled a few of my favorites throughout the post. Enjoy!
This post has been over a month in the making—now that my wedding has come and gone, I can put my free time toward photography again. I'm excited to (finally) share some photos from Mason's one-year session!
Its always so great working with repeat clients—I love seeing how much they grow and how their little personalities take shape between those first few days of life and their first birthday. Mason was no exception. I had the pleasure of taking his newborn photos (somehow his blog post disappeared when I switched over to my new website—darn!) and I remember him being such a strong little guy with lots of little smiles. Fast forward a year, and that certainly hasn't changed! He's been walking for a few months now, and his session was full of smiles—and a bit of a workout, chasing him around with the camera as he explored his surroundings. I had so much fun spending the evening with Mason and his creative & stylish mama. She had so many fun ideas and cute outfits for him! See for yourself:
Pa and Mark are one of the most thoughtful, loving, and selflessly giving couples I've had the pleasure to photograph. Their Irvine Park wedding in Saint Paul was filled with beauty and emotion as they exchanged their vows while surrounded by their closest family and friends.
Pa & Mark, it was an honor to be a part of your special day—thank you so much for allowing me to capture these memories! I wish you both the best in life and marriage.
I'm so excited to share the excitement from Katie & Joel's wedding day with you! It was a beautiful, crazy, stormy, lovely, fun-filled barn wedding, and I couldn't have asked for a better couple to photograph that day! As the storm approached, Katie and Joel kept smiles on their faces throughout the chaos as their families pulled together to move decorations to the lower level of the barn. The plans for an outdoor ceremony moved into the barn, but it was the perfect celebration of love nonetheless. Katie and Joel, thanks for allowing me to photograph your special day!
A big thanks to Colin Schye for second-shooting with me!
Meet Naomi. This little sweetheart was lucky enough to enter this world on Christmas Day! I had such a great time photographing her—she was a great little model and had the most beautiful lips and lashes. She even gave me a few sleepy smiles! (Those are the best—I feel so blessed when I’m able to capture them.) I’m so excited to watch Naomi grow up!
Congrats to Naomi’s family—I know they love her so much!
I had so so SO much fun with these two! I met fellow designer & photographer Amy and her fiancé Shawn out at the cutest (& yummiest) little ice cream shop: Olson's Ice Cream Parlor in Chippewa Falls, where the two shared a cone and some kisses. Afterwards, it was fishing time! These two love fishing together. Their secret spot: Lake Wissota. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful autumn day—blessed with gorgeous weather and a gorgeous couple! Thanks for a fun shoot, Amy and Shawn. Looking forward to photographing your wedding in May!
Debbie & Terry are incredibly kind and such an easygoing couple. Their ceremony was held at the beautiful Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota. And their reception: anything but ordinary! Guests got to bowl the night away at Memory Lanes. How fun is that!? Thank you, Debbie and Terry, for allowing Gunnar and I to photograph your special day!
This couple is oh-so-dear to my heart, and I had the most amazing time doing their engagement session! For their session we traveled out to Menomonie — where we all attended college together. Gracie is the sweetest friend a girl could have, and Ian is just perfect for her. And I just love their save-the-date idea! (Background story: these two go to old photo booths every month or so to get their pictures taken together. It has become a tradition and now they've got countless photo strips!) We had an absolutely awesome day, and I couldn't be more excited for their wedding in February!
This little guy is Emilio. He was born five weeks early and was oh so little! I got to meet him on his 17th day of life. He was such a precious angel. Welcome to the world, little "Emmy"
[hr]Are you expecting? If you're interested in scheduling a newborn session, please contact me at least two months prior to your baby's due date to ensure we can schedule a time when your baby is two weeks or younger.
This is one of the best families I've had the pleasure of photographing. And it was so great to spend some time capturing some of their moments together in Minnesota before they moved to Brazil. Little Isabella has grown so much since I last photographed her. She still has those same adorable cubby cheeks she had in her newborn session though! Such an adorable girl and beautiful family. Best wishes in Brazil, you three!
